Celebrities: Red Carpet Moments & Other Events

While working in Manhattan back in 2002, I stumbled upon a red carpet event being set up. It was the New York City premiere of Red Dragon, which took place on September 30th at the Ziegfeld Theatre. I decided to stay and observe. I was surprised that nobody bothered me as I stood there right near the entrance as the celebrities came in. It was an amazing lineup with Edward Norton, Salma Hayek, Ralph Fiennes, Harvey Keitel, Emily Watson, Philip Seymour Hoffman, as well as others like Jewel, Chelsea Clinton, Val Kilmer, and more. But when Anthony Hopkins walked over to me, shook my hand, and said "Hello, how are you?" in that familiar accent, I almost expected him to call me Clarice! A little later, I found myself talking with two nice guys, who turned out to be Rev Run and Russell Simmons! Armed with nothing more than a tiny flip phone, I took their photo and captured some candid shots of a few other celebrities. This experience ignited my passion for photography! I then began taking classes and the rest is history! A new job took me to Long Island, making it more difficult to commute into Manhattan for movie premieres, but I still love the excitement and may get back into it at some point.
